Martin Sexton
Set Lists & CD Liner Notes
Last Update: 15
November 2003
These are the setlists for all of the Martin Sexton shows that I have. I am happy to make copies for anyone who will send a show to trade, or blank CD and return postage. You can reach me by e-mail. I reserve the right to withdraw this offer at any time!
I'd like to add a cross-reference list of songs to CD/show. It's not going very well cuz there are so many shows and songs that I can't fit them into a table that will print neatly. I have one more idea, and that is to figure out which songs are on shows listed below but not and any album, and put all that stuff together on one disc. Kind of a "you can't buy this in stores" disc.
Welcome.

12 November 2000 - Cedar Cultural Center
Minneapolis, Minnesota
This is the second
show that I and TM ever tried to tape. We were too close to the
monitors, so the sound is muffled and the volume occasionally
overloaded the microphone. Apparently the Cedar sounds best from
the center back. We were sitting in front row center so nobody
had a better view, but the sound quality did suffer! You can also
hear the slightest skip between tracks even though it was was
supposed to burn without interruption. That's some goofy
requirement from the CD burner software that I haven't figured a
way around yet. I would not recommend this recording unless you
are insatiably curious and have no other source for this show.
(Disk 1 Total Length 43:15. Jewel Case Labels for double case: front 148k / back 260k)
(Disk 2 Total Length 71:44.)
11 November 2000 - Norshor Theater
Duluth, Minnesota (Two Discs)
This is the first
show that I and TM ever tried to tape. The venue sounded like a
big cave and so does the recording. There is some crowd noise,
and there are several of glass bottles rolling down the sloped
concrete floor across the theater. The first track cuts in after
the beginning of the song, and there is also one skip. Both
problems are due to data errors while transferring the show from
the CD minidisc to the computer harddrive. You can also hear the
slightest skip between tracks even though it was was supposed to
burn without interruption. That's some goofy requirement from the
CD burner software that I haven't figured a way around yet. But,
hey, at least it sounds better than our recording the next night
at the Cedar (see above).
(Disk 1 Total Length 43:25. Jewel Case Labels for double case: front 176k / back 200k)
(Disk 2 Total Length 73:27.)

Most importantly, I'm a fan. I'm not a taper, I'm not a trader. I collect MS live shows because I enjoy his on stage banter, the variations in his performances, and hearing the songs that are not available on albums. This is a minor hobby for me and I do not take it seriously. Peace and love. Enjoy. Take a deep breath and reeeeeeeeeeeelax.
I do NOT have any ratings of the quality of these recordings. They sound fine to me, some better and some worse. I don't have any basis for comparison nor do I know what standards other people use. There is no information here about the original recording and editting. As far as CDs go, I don't care what brand you use. I don't pay any attention to what I use. It's all digital and I make backups for myself, which satisfies my needs.
Check Martin Sexton's webpage http://www.martinsexton.com for his latest policy on taping/trading. The last time I looked, he allowed fan taping and trading as long as no money is involved.
I'm happy to share what I have. I'd love to hear what you've got.
